Housing Market Update

august 2024 housing market update graphic
Well, we’re in the third quarter of 2024. It’s been a bit of a wild ride! If you weren’t already aware, election years are typically marked by lower consumer spending. This one has followed that trend on the national level. With that as the backdrop I think it’s been a surprisingly strong year for real estate in
Eugene-Springfield.

Current average sales price of $459,900 is a bit below the YTD average of $474,211. New listings are down and homes are selling more slowly, leading to slightly higher inventory numbers.

Projections for 2025 are positive so I view this year as a
success surviving the storm!

Take a look at these Lane County statistics and let me know if you have any questions about the housing market.

Small Business Spotlight

I am SO excited about this new business. As any of you with children know, it can be challenging keeping them entertained in healthy ways during inclement weather.

Our community gained a fantastic resource in this regard when Kira and Lee opened PlaySpace Cafe this summer!

Odds are good that you’ve visited already but if you haven’t, drop everything and go! Your kids will have a blast no matter what they are interested in. PlaySpace is an indoor playground, featuring two play spaces, a craft room and

a reading room. One playroom targets toddlers and babies and one is for older kids. Both are brilliantly designed to accommodate and engage all kinds of personalities.

Unlike public parks, parent supervision is required so your kids get a more predictable, safe environment.

The coffee and snacks are great and odds are good that kids and parents alike will make new friends!

With PlaySpace Cafe in the mix, winter in Eugene just got a little more fun!

Xander’s Slice of Life

Pardon me while I brag about my wife for a minute. The UO Cheerleading team reached out to Lindsay and commissioned her to make a special costume for The Duck for the Ohio State v Oregon football game. She created a masterpiece. If you weren’t lucky enough to attend the game and see it in person, watch the promo video on The Duck’s instagram page.

Our kids don’t even know how special it was that we got to have the mascot in our living room for fittings but they will some day. I won’t lie, it was a peak experience for me as well!

In other family news, tomorrow is Joe’s 3rd birthday! The costume wasn’t Lindsay’s only epic creation this month. She also built a model of The Little Blue Truck as the centerpiece for the party. Special thanks to Poppy for helping make the structure so that it’s strong enough for the kids to be able to play on!

Enjoy your last week of Daylight Savings Time. Get your soup recipes out and stay warm.
