Player of the month for February goes to Jim Watkins! Jim has had perfect attendance, in spite of just welcoming a new baby to his family. He’s a tenacious defender, commonly leading the team in steals, and a crafty scorer.
In addition to his fine play on the court, Jim covered for me as captain so that our family could sneak away for a quick trip to Borrego Springs.
Xander’s Slice of Life
Our annual visit to the beautiful Anza Borrego State Park started in a frenzy, and a day ahead of schedule, as we rushed to beat 85+ mile wind gusts that ripped through the Coachella valley. This was Joey’s 2nd visit to one of my favorite places on earth and we got to show him a little more of it than we did last year. He made sure to water the dry spots in the lawn as often as we would let him. Borrego Springs is a dark sky community and the stars really made an impression on our little man. Every night he’d demand we take him out to look Upon our return we went to Elevation to watch the Sender’s Games, a wonderful climbing competition. Last year, Joe was just a lump, staring at the giant ceiling fan. This year he watched the finals with rapt attention, from the comfort of his fancy back pack. If you haven’t seen a climbing competition, put this one on your schedule for next year. It’s a great time. Our kitchen remodel is underway. Don’t recommend it when you have a 16 month-er but the final product will be a welcome upgrade to our wonderful home.
