March Real Estate Housing Market

august 2024 housing market update graphic

The most recent sales data from RMLS is shown at left. It is accurate through February. By most measures February was a less active real estate housing market than was January. That’s pretty common. We often see a lull as winter seems to drag on forever.

At the beginning of March the FHFA folks released data
through Q4 of 2024. Home appreciation for Eugene
Springfield was down 1.37% for that interval, bringing the 2024 total down to 2.4%. That’s stronger than 2023 but lower than our 20 year average of 5.3%.

I’m excited to see things tick back up this spring and summer!

Give me a call and let’s talk shop.

A couple of years ago a good friend of ours, Bethany Hays-Alsin, started picking our brains about starting her own business. Many of you know what a massive endeavor that can be. It has been so delightful to see what she has built and how much success she is having with it.

Let me introduce you to Fluid + Drape! This is a local/online fabric store for garment sewists. Bethany believes that sewing is self care and that beautiful fabric is at the core of this. She hopes to inspire makers with her curated fabric selection.

Everything she sells is chosen for its beauty, movement and sustainability.

Bethany is very community minded and hosts lots of local events like free fabric swaps to help connect people and foster creativity. Follow her on Instagram for those announcements. She allows shopping by appointment and has occasional open shopping days and remnant sales as well.

I love how Bethany has pursued her passion and I think you’ll love the result.

On a Personal Note…

Holy cow have we been sick a lot this season. I hope your immune systems have been under less duress than ours. I’m equally hopeful that longer days and more sunshine are going to see us staying healthy for longer periods of time!

Joe has started his first basketball “camp” through the YMCA’s Itty Bitty program. It’s a lot of 3-5 year-olds in a small space with all the expected chaos but it’s been pretty fun so far. Dribbling, passing, shooting and some silly games give him a nice introduction. It’s extra special that we get to share the experience with our friend Brenden and his son Asher! Who knows if the kids will love basketball as much as I do but I’m enjoying sharing it with them so far.

Lindsay’s aunts took a visit to India and brought the kids back some beautiful garments! I visited Mom and Dad in Borrego Springs and got some beautiful weather for golf (and napping). Of course I promptly got sick again as soon as I came home.

That’s the dad life eh? It’s not always glamorous but it sure is a blessing.
